Another charter flight departed from Lesvos for Germany today, the 5th one, flying directly to Hannover, as part of the relocation process of recognized refugees implemented by the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum, in tandem with the International Organization for Migration and funded by the European Commission. The direct flights from Lesvos to Germany are carried out following the agreement of the Prime Minister Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the German Chancellor, Mrs. Angela Merkel, following the catastrophic fire in Moria. The agreement provides for the relocation of 1,553 refugees from Greece to Germany in total. So far, due to travel restrictions imposed by the pandemic, 1,053 recognized refugees have left for Germany and are being hosted at the Mytilene HCC, 572 by direct flight from Lesvos and 481 by inland flights.
