The Asylum Service informs the public that the Regional Asylum Offices and Units will serve the public only following an appointment, including interviews and registrations. This is necessary in the light of the protection of public health and the need to curb the spread of covid-19.
Following the queries which have been expressed to the Asylum Service concerning the announcement on 16.2.2021, we would like to inform the public that, in Regional Asylum Services which are situated within Regions or Municipalities of "very excessive risk" [according to Common Ministerial Decision 9147 (G.G. Β 534/2021)] only urgent registrations and appeals will be registered, while no interviews of international protection applications will take place whatsoever until 28.2.2021.
Greece submitted a request to the European Commission, and to Frontex for the immediate return to Turkey of 1,450 third country citizens who are not entitled to international protection.

The Regional Asylum of Piraus will remain closed from Monday 11/01/2021 until Thursday 14/01/2021 as it is relocating to the previous building of the Appeals Authority in Filoxenou Street 2 and Spintharou in Neo Kosmos.
Another charter flight departed from Lesvos for Germany today, the 5th one, flying directly to Hannover, as part of the relocation process of recognized refugees implemented by the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum, in tandem with the International Organization for Migration and funded by the European Commission. The direct flights from Lesvos to Germany are carried out following the agreement of the Prime Minister Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the German Chancellor, Mrs. Angela Merkel, following the catastrophic fire in Moria.
Additional Passport Offices are now available throughout Greece
According to the recommendation of the Hellenic Police and the decision of the Director of the Asylum Service, additional Passport Offices are now available throughout Greece in order to provide better services to applicants of travel documents. Applicants should select a Passport Office according to their current place of residence in order to submit their application, supporting documents and their fingerprints.
Today 54 unaccompanied minors have been relocated to France.
The mission was realized the context of the relocation program of unaccompanied minors minors to countries of the European Union.
Apart from 350 unaccompanied minors, France will receive also families of applicants of international protection.
Α Memorandum was signed today between the Ministry of Migration and Asylum and the Red Cross.
