Operation of Regional Asylum Offices until March 7th 2021

The Asylum Service informs the public, that in accordance with the measures for protecting the public health and preventing the spread of Covid-19, it can visit a Regional Asylum Services only after scheduling an appointment. This includes interviews and registrations. .

Regarding regional offices that operate within high risk Covid areas, they are going to serve only urgent refugee registrations, and perform no other operation like interviews on matters of international protection etc until March 7th 2021.

Following the queries which have been expressed to the Asylum Service concerning the announcement on 16.2.2021, we would like to inform the public that, in Regional Asylum Services which are situated within Regions or Municipalities of "very excessive risk" [according to Common Ministerial Decision 9147 (G.G. Β 534/2021)] only urgent registrations and appeals will be registered, while no interviews of international protection applications will take place whatsoever until 28.2.2021.

147 recognised refugees depart for Germany from Lesvos

Another charter flight departed from Lesvos for Germany today, the 5th one, flying directly to Hannover, as part of the relocation process of recognized refugees implemented by the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum, in tandem with the International Organization for Migration and funded by the European Commission. The direct flights from Lesvos to Germany are carried out following the agreement of the Prime Minister Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the German Chancellor, Mrs. Angela Merkel, following the catastrophic fire in Moria.
